It is a sad day

It is a sad day for all of us today as we say good bye to Dave Caldwell. David and my Sheena went all through school together and remained friends even into their lives beyond school. The Murray kids as this group are referred to attended Dave's birthday at the end of every school year. Every kid in the class was always invited and perhaps that is why they all formed such a bond and have always stayed in touch with one another.
For those of you who don't know David perhaps you know his Mother Brenda. Brenda is a nurse in the emergency at Trenton Memorial and has seen all of us through our emergencies. Our thoughts go out to her and Davids fiancee Brandi today in this very difficult time.

Winter has arrived

It certainly looked like a winter wonderland out there today. I wasn't expecting the freezing rain so that was a big surprize to wake up to this morning. Although the main road were in good condition the side streets and rural roads were another story. Unfortunately that affected our Hook In today. Debbie, Diane, Barb and I were the only four at hooking but we all managed to make great headway in our projects. That Santa will definately be done by next Christmas. lol
We miss you Betty. Hope your cruise is going well and your weather is beautiful. Hope you have your winter boots with you as it looks like you are coming back to winter in Canada.
There is a large selection of spring fabrics that have just arrived in the store. With the arrival of my grandchildren I realized that I don't carry a great deal of baby fabrics so this shipment is full of pastel pinks, greens, and blues. Stripes and juvenile prints are also included. I also managed to pick up about ten different baby quilt tops for those of you looking for crib panels.
Knitters
Looks like it will be next week before we have Frill Seeker back in the shop. There are quite a few colors that have just arrived in the warehouse so here's hoping that they will be able to get the order out next week. I have received a large number of Baby knitting books that are full of great projects. Check them out at your earliest convenience. These books don't stay in the shop long.
Hope to see you all out this week.

Spinning Friday

It's been quite awhile since I posted but my new year did not get off to a great start. I had the cold and sinus infection that lasted for three weeks. I tried to fight it off but finally succumbed and the doctor wrote a prescription. I am better!!!! Yeah.
New arrivals this week of 108"-120" quilt backs. Navy, burgundy and a medium rust. I thought I'd add a little colour to the collection . White and beige can be so boring at times. There are three new colours of waffle cloth that have also just arrived, black, lavender and a nice rust. All three colours work well with the new Babyville Pul Fabrics.
Sharon and I have been working our duffs off and have created several new knitting kits for your perusal. There has been alot of new sock yarn as well as some cottons that are now in so check them out if you haven't been in in awhile. The top down sweater book is back in stock and we also have a new sock book that they tell me has it all! You'll never need another one. There are some beautiful Aran yarns in several colours for those of you knitting those lovely popcorn and cable hats.
Pat has done quite abit of new dyeing for the rug hookers so drop in and see the colourful selection. If you are interested in doing your own dyeing we have lots of natural wool from Dorr for you.
Friday is our Spin In. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Hope all of you had a great entrance into the New Year last evening and are feeling none the worse for wear as a result. I, on the other hand hit the sheets at 9:30 p.m. as the season has finally caught up to me.
We are doing alot of beginner sewing at Andjareenas and the PUL Fabric for diaper covers is the newest thing. Lots of young Mom's are interested in the environment and doing their part. As a result they are using cloth diapers once again. I have had some of them knitting Soakers and felting them and with this new fabric that is completely waterproof there will be plenty of diaper covers made. My Mom was looking for a shower cap and was unable to find one so I actually cut an 18" circle of the Pul fabric and did a three step ziz zag and attached some bathing suit elastic and eureka I had a shower cap for her. It's easy to sew and although they suggest a teflon foot, I didn't use a special foot and had absolutely no problem. Stop in and see the full selection that we have in the shop now along with the snaps, velcro, foldover elastic and appliques to match.I like anything that's fun to sew!
